CACHE VALLEY BIATHLON

Jason ran cross country through most of highschool. Since that time he has played basketball off and on, ran a handful of 5k's and started mountain biking as of last year. Two weeks ago he decides he wants to participate in a biathlon consisting of a 5 mile run and a 16.5 mile bike ride. Having a partner is optional but Jason wants to go for it, "if I 'm gonna do it I might as well do it" he says. So you would think that in that two week time frame you would want to do a little training. Not Jason. Didn't run or ride his bike once(except to take Owen around the neighborhood).

Today was race day in Wellsville and I've gotta say, I am really proud of him for doing it. The 5 mile run was first. He finished that at 43 mins and 10 secs.(an excellent run)! He looked beat after the run. Jas is not much of a sweater, but he had a wet chest and his face was real red with white splotches on it. There was no nipple chaffing though, phew!(that is not something that normally happens to him or anything, I just teased him about it. I didn't even know that really happened to guys until Andy on The Office gauzed and bandaged up on the Fun Run episode). He said he felt like puking. He got on his bike at 44 mins and 40 secs and was off for his 16.5 mile ride. He was like one of four people on a mountain bike. This is definitley a disadvantage, but he has no road bike, so whatever. Melanie and Jake came to the finish line and waited with Owen and me(thanks for the support guys). We mistaked Jason for a lot of people(women mostly, sorry Jas) only because we were looking for an orange shirt and the pink looked orange from far back. Jake thought it was pretty funny when I was sure he was coming and it ended up being a woman. He rode in at 1 hour 54 mins and 30 secs. He did so great and I really am so proud of him and his determination to do something like this. You rock Jas!!!

Way to go #33!!! He had bad helmet hair.

Book Review

Okay. I finished this book last night and I have mixed feelings about it. It was good and worth reading, but I didn't love it like the Twilight series. That is probably my biggest problem. I did enjoy the story, especially given all the sci-fi geek stuff, that is just not my thing. Vampires and werewolves sure, but not alien invasion. Sounds a little silly I know. The thing about it is Stephenie Meyer is some sort of love genius. I don't know why it effects me so much, but the way she illustrates two people being in love is amazing. She gets me completely emerged in the love story as if I am the character in her story. I love that. She definitley has a way of making you feel like her characters are real and alive. That was the best thing about this book for me for sure, the relationships and the love, respect, hate, confusion, passion, pain and joy that they all endured. I give it 3 stars out of 5(worth reading, but probably won't read again). I won't say more than that cause I don't want to spoil it. Read it. If you love the Twilight series, keep Bella and Edward out of your mind while you are reading...there is not a better couple than those two(except for maybe Bella and Jacob).

Missing S.F.

What an awesome weekend we just had. We went down to Spanish Fork on Friday night(6/6) to spend the weekend for Alexander's baptism. Amb drove down with me, Jas and Owen. We stopped to eat in American Fork at a burger joint called Chadders. We had never been there and discovered that it was the generic brand for In and Out Burger. It was delish! We made a quick stop at Target and headed to S.F. Here are a couple of my favorite quotes from the weekend:

Amy: Alex, are you excited to get baptized or are you nervous?

Alex: I am excited, except I have to wear whitey tighties.

His baptism was Saturday morning, so I guess Ang wanted to do everything he wanted to do before he would be held accountable.

The whole family was at the Cope's on Saturday and we all had a sleepover and went to church with them in the morning. It felt like we were all far away and on vacation. I wish it would have lasted much longer. Angela is a great hostess and it's always a good time at her house. I know that people have family all over the country and that we are lucky to all be so close, but still, Spanish Fork sometimes feels like a different country. I really miss Angela. It's just not right to have 5/6th's of the whole. Thanks for a great weekend Ang! Love you!

Owen's Favorites

Owen is 13 months and 17 days old. These are some of the things he loves right now...

Any sporting event on tv. He especially loved cheering for the Jazz. We took him to a playoff game and he had a great time. He loves any sport with a ball.


Owen loves getting in the refrigerator and getting out the soda pop. He would really like to try some, but as far as I know(Grandma), he has not yet had his first taste of the Diet Coke or Mtn Dew.




He has recently discovered coloring and really enjoys it. He does a pretty god job at staying on the paper. He really likes the click pens.


Blowing is pretty cool. He blows out the lights and blows on the oven cause mom says it's hot. He doesn't really blow the dandelions very well, but he likes to pick them and watch the seeds fly away.


Swinging is probably is favorite outside activity right now. Really, just being outside is good enough but he really loves to swing...especially when Grandpa pushes him.



Shrek the Third was the first movie we took Owen to. He was little and slept most of the time, but I really think that is why he loves Shrek so much now. We have the whole trilogy and he always pulls all three out and looks at the covers forever. It's the only thing he really watches on tv besides sports. He's funny.



A few more of his favs:
Animals. He has a favorite book with all sorts of animals and he will look at it over and over and over. He points at all the ones he likes and wants me or Jason to tell him what it is.
Books. Definitely keep his interest the longest. He loves looking at all the pictures and pointing out the things he recognizes. I may just be biased, but I think he is kind of a genius!
Grandma's hair. Whenever she holds him he always has a hold of her long blonde hair.
Dad. Such a Daddy's boy!
Cousins. All of them. He loves playing with the kids.
Bike rides in his bike trailer with mom and dad.
Walks outside. Stroller or no stroller.
Bananas, juice, Apple Jacks, music, wind, blankies, Spongebob Squarepants pj's, feeding himself, tickle fights and so much more.
He is an awesome kid and so curious about everything this world has to offer. He has made me rediscover so many little things around me that I take for granted everyday and I am so greatful for that!

Friday love

Man I love Fridays! I love being at work and not working(i am working, just not a lot). I love that the sun is trying so hard to beat out the clouds. What I love most about this Friday though... no work on Monday! Raise the roof for three day weekends...woo woo woo woo! I also love that Sister, Rich and the kids are coming up for the weekend. I always miss them and it is always a good time when they come up.
Okay, so I haven't prettied up my blog yet, but I had to post again due to having my 26th birthday and all. So, my birthday was on Tuesday(20th). Last year I turned 25, just had a baby and was not really feeling it. I was not pumped about being twenty five and didn't really care about it. Well, good old Amy was back to herself this year! I was really excited about my party and being the center of attention and being "the birthday girl". I took the day off. Almost all my sister's(nice one Mel), my dad and sis in-law Jen called and sang to me. My cousin B and Amber text me, cousin Ry emailed me and best aunt Annette left a message. Jason and I slept in my parent's backyard on the trampoline and watched "27 Dresses" the night before. Well, I watched it and Jason slept. It was a cute movie. Katherine Heigel and her sister in the movie always looked so cute. In the morning there were donuts from Shaffers waiting for me (thanks dad). Then Jas and I went to "What Happens in Vegas"(he took work off too, cause I asked him too and he is the best!). It was hilarious! I really liked it and would go see it again right now if I could. I love Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz, so it was totally entertaining for me. Jas liked it too. It was a laugh out loud, for sure. Then Jason and I took Owen to the park. Owen loves to swing..he's freakin cute. After the park we had the best birthday dinner ever! My mom is the best at birthdays and trying to make them as special as possible. She rocks. She made me filet mignon(wrapped the steak in bacon herself) and dad Weber'd it. He is master griller! We also had sweet potatos loaded with caramel sauce, marshmallows and brown sugar(yeah, it was that good) and homemade rolls with homemade cinnamon butter and mixed veggies! Really, the best dinner ever. After the meal we had a party. Everyone sang to me and I got awesome gifts! I won't list them all cause I don't want to sound spoiled(I am spoiled)! Jason surprised me with an awesome turquoise ring that my friend Lisa made. I was so excited and I really love it. I couldn't have asked for a better day. Then we had dessert. I always request orange sherbet, vanilla icecream dessert with oreos crushed on top and bottom. Delish! What a great thing it is to take a day and totally celebrate yourself. Everyone needs to do it...we all deserve it. LIfe is not easy and there is no reason not to enjoy yourself for a day and allow people to celebrate and spoil you for a day. It was a really great day and I love all of you for letting me revel in it! I will post pictures later.

First try

Okay, first blog attempt. It is not organized,
not complete and kind of a mess...kinda sums
me up. I am going to get some tips from my
sis, who loves the Blogging world, so I can get in
some sort of order here.
Anyway, I love reading other people's blogs and
am the creepy girl that goes around reading about
other people's lives and thinks that I have new best
friends. I read a blog this morning that you should
all check out, cause even if you cannot relate to it now, you
probably will some day and it is heartbreaking and comforting
and happy and tragic...it's life at it's best and worst. Very
