living room camp out

Jason had his tent set up in the living room when I got home from Spanish Fork on Saturday cause he was letting it dry out from his camp out. We decided to keep it up and have an indoor camping experience. Well, here it is Monday night and we are still camping out. It's not everyday you have a tent in your living room...you've got to take advantage of stuff like that. This will be our last night roughing it,(we have not been home much during the day and have been getting home late every night and have not bothered taking it down), but it has been really fun. Jason is nice to indulge my weirdness.

weekend in the U.C.

Owen and I headed down to Spanish Fork for the weekend and we had a really great time! Jason was on a campout and I am not a big fan of being alone(I'm not scared, I just like company). Friday night we went and watched Alexa play softball. She is good! After her game we had a little photo shoot in the back of the van. I like us!

Crazy boys! These boys make me laugh! Alex, Owen and Maxwell.
Alexa and Alex ditched on Friday night to hang with their dad so it was Ang, Rich, Max, Owen and I. We went to 'Get Smart'. I am going to have to go again cause Owen didn't fall asleep, pretty much sucked. Then Ang and I stayed up til 4am talking. That was my favorite part. I have known Angela for 26 years and I think I learned more about her that night than I really ever knew. Loved that. Saturday we chilled. We rented movies, ate nachos, donated blood and went to a shoe party. Owen and Max were friends most of the time(when Owen was not crying). They are cute. We bought them twin muscle shirts.
It was a great time and I will be doing it again soon!

I want my Owen back!!!

Wow...Owen has been so cranky these last few days with a really snotty nose. I am really hoping that he is just getting new teeth, cause I really miss my sweet, laid back, happy little man!
Seriously O, you have got to stop! Saturday he was crazy...laughing with Maxwell one minute, crying his eyes out the next, a very sad, very pathetic cry. He was tired and probably had a stomach ache(just guessing from the 5 poopy diapers I changed), but still so out of character for him. Sunday he was just naughty. Not eating. Crying when he was told no or didn't get what he wanted. Crying cause he was using the sign for 'more' with his hands, but no one had any idea what he wanted more of...aye aye aye(whoever taught him to sign 'more'...you bug!)
I realize that it could be much worse, but I have had it pretty easy with him and I would like that to continue. Please bless this is only a fluke and that he will have more teeth soon and will be my Owen again asap!

Book Review

Loved it! Just as good, maybe better the second time around. I love Jacob Black and his happiness. He is just laid back and so easy going. I could totally be friends with him. SPOILER ALERT!!! As much as I hate losing Edward in this book(he's just not around for most of it) I think Jacob makes up for it. I am still totally routing for Edward though!

Flip Flops

love owen's fat little Fred Flinstone's in them.
buy new ones every year from Old Navy(white, black, brown).
not supposed to wear them to work, try to get away with it.
wear them in winter in attempts to summons summertime.
jason having to break in his feet for them every summer.
easy and carefree.
always wearing the wrong pair when my sister's are around cause we get them mixed up.
getting stuck with the rotten, crackly big toe imprinted ones(see above)
flipping sand all the way up to my bumb while walking on the beach.
monica having to go home and put shoes and socks on after 2 hours of flop wear.
tan lines.
giant pile of them in my living room and closet.
brinlie throwing hers out the car window or forgetting to put them on in the morning so her mom has to buy her a new pair.
painted toesies on display.
What's not to love about a good pair of flip flops?
and for all you flip flop lovers, all flops are going to be $1 at Old Navy this Saturday!

Book Review

This book was so-so for me. I liked it, definitley didn't love it but it was a fast read. I just found out that it is the 4th book in a series called The Women's Murder Club. I don't think I was interested enough in this one to go out and get the first three. I think that James Patterson is a great author. I have read a few of his other books. He definitley grabs your attention right from the beginning. However, I didn't find myself engrossed in this story or it's characters and I was not thrilled with the ending. Overall I would say if you are looking for a murder/mystery quick read, this is a good choice. An okay summer read.(click on the book if you want a summary of the book series)

can we make this last forever?

We went to Bear Lake on Saturday. Just me, Jas and Owen. Owen went to the lake a few times last year but he was tiny and did not enjoy it that much. This time...he loved it. He liked digging in the sand the best. He got hit in the face with a wave, so he was not a fan of the actual lake. He liked sitting in the warm water right before you get to the lake. The little pools that are a little mushy on the bottom and have white foam around the edges...kinda creeps me out. That was nice though, cause I could sit back and enjoy my book without worrying about him running into the lake. I read my book and walked out in the water and Jason built stuff in the sand. It was a perfect day and I wished we could've stayed the rest of the summer!

We got home and cleaned up, went and got a pizza, played with Owen, put him to bed and then Jas and I watched the movie The Invisible. Hated it! Wow, it was an hour and a half long but felt like it was three hours long. It just dragged and could have been done so much better. I did appreciate seeing new faces in the movie. Not great actors, but not bad. Oh well, it was still a really great day.

Office Shenanigans

Okay, I hate to admit this, but I have a pretty good time at work(most of the time). Work is the last place I want to be every morning. Seriously, have you seen my kid? Well, he's awesome and I would love to be at home with him everyday, but for now, I work. Since I do work, I try to make the most of it. The people that I work with are pretty awesome too, so we tend to get easily sidetracked. It is not a rare thing to walk upstairs in our building to loud music and dancing. I usually krank a little hip hop/alternative, my boss likes the Jon Bon Jovi and the electric slide and random others throw out country, 80's and oldies. It's a pretty good time. Anyway, I love the show THE OFFICE to no end. Jason and I watch and quote it all the time. I also love a good office prank. I finally, finally was able to pull off the cell phone in the ceiling stunt!!! Wow, one of the best days of my life! Poor unsuspecting Bobby left his phone on his desk unattended and I crept in, put a chair on his desk, stood on the chair, pushed the ceiling tile up and stashed his cellular telephone. When he came back I called his phone...yeah...he had no idea! I called for about 7 minutes. We work in cubicles so all the employment counselors were either playing along or getting really annoyed with Bobby and the endless ringing of classical music. Both my supervisors and a bunch of my upstairs co-workers came to witness and we all had a really good laugh. The downstairs team is a little lame, so hopefully this gave them a good laugh as well. If not, oh well!
I have also put a co-worker's stapler in JELLO, taken everything but the computer and phone out of someone's cube(seriously, disassembled the desk and all), had crab walk races, play movie clips over the loud speaker(my fav one to play is Chunk from The Goonies talking about the time he fake puked at the movie theater over the balcony), filmed office parodies with co-workers for our bosses award ceremony and I 'll stop there cause the list will go on and on. I guess the main purpose of this post was for me to realize that work isn't all that bad and thank goodness for funny co-workers! What would life be like with no laughter?!?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JASON!!!

Picture taken June 15, 2008.
Jason Ian Harris born June 17, 1980. 28 years old today. Happy Birthday Jas! I have spent 6 of the last 28 birthdays with him and he keeps getting more handsome, more wonderful and more awesome every year. I love you Jason, so much! I hope that all your birthday wishes come true this year.

Jason and I both worked today. Jason does not view birthdays the way I do and to be quite honest, he was a little grumpy today when he got home from work. He worked outside painting all day in 90 degree weather, so he was tired and worn out. When he got home from work he opened his presents from me and Owen. We gave him basketball shoes, a swim cap(only as a joke), a ball cap and a purple shirt. Jason has bad ears and can't really go under water when we go swimming, so when I saw the cap at the sporting goods store for $2.50 I couldn't resist. He was not amused. He thought it was really weird, but I thought it was funny. I told him he has to wear it at least one time. Not sure that's going to happen.

After he opened his gifts the three of us went to Chili's for dinner. After dinner we dropped Owen off at Monica's and went to the movie Baby Mama(this was all Jason's choice). We laughed so much! Holy cow, Jason laughed tears during the movie and also after when we were talking about it in the car. This is definitely a must see! Hilarious! "you'll never get me pig" (that's for you Jas!) We had a good time. He was definitley cheered up after dinner and the movie.

You can't tell, but this is when he was laughing his face off in the car, after the movie...laughing tears. It was very funny.
I hope you had a great birthday Jason! I love you!!!

#11, #22 done and more fun

#11 Go on family bike rides...done Sunday June 15, 2008

Owen is so stinking cute in his bike helmet. He loves riding in his bike trailer. He thinks it is hilarious when you put your face against the plastic windows.

We rode up to mom and dad's on Sunday. It was a 25 minute ride.

#22 play badminton...done

Me and Jason took on Dad and Monica. We totally won. It was a pretty exciting match!(thanks to Melissa for the sweet action shot)

More fun....

Owen and Grandpa - Melissa and Brooklyn

Dad rebuilt the childhood see saw/teeter totter. Mom said he researched horses in the encyclopedia so he could get the heads just right and he put a lot of work into it. Thanks for helping us relive some memories dad!

Owen loves the trampoline. He likes to have someone chase him all around on it. He makes me a little nervous, but he laughs his head off, so how can I resist?!?

Owen's Dad...My Dad

Dad's are the best men on earth. Everything they do is for their family, at least the Dad's I know. Owen really got lucky on this one. Jason is the best. He always has time to play with Owen. He is always willing to get him ready for bed, give him a bath, and even change his stinky diapers! Jason is always play wrestling with Owen and tickling him. Jason will tell Owen to put his arms up and Owen will get this suspicious look on his face and then start laughing cause he knows daddy is gonna get him. They are so cute together! I am so greatful that Owen is always going to have a hero, someone that he will always be able to look up to and someone that he will want to pattern his life after. I love you Jason, and even though it's only been one year...you are already so good at filling your role as daddy. Thank you so much for taking such good care of our little boy!

Jason and Owen - Father's Day 2008
My dad is definitley a hero of mine. Hardest worker I know. He has always had more than one job and yet he was always at every event my sisters and I participated in. He was always willing to play with us even after working for 12 hours straight. We kinda had him wrapped around our fingers, and still do! I know that he loves me so much and he has proven that over my lifetime that he would do anything for me. I am so greatful to have that kind of unconditional love and support. Tucking me and Melissa in at night, sleeping outside in the tent, shooting hoops in the driveway, throwing the football, swimming at Days Inn, pink mint walks...the list of memories and lessons learned from my dad is
endless. I love you Dad!

Dad and Me Father's - Day 2008
Some other Father's I definitely want to recognize are:
LaMont: Having a father in-law as welcoming and loving as he is makes being married that much easier. I am so greatful for the example he was and still is to Jason. I know that Jason looks up to him so much and I am so glad, because he is a great man. His wife and his kids are the most important things in his life. You can tell that by the way he treats them.
My brother in-laws Dave, Rich, Steve and John: For taking such good care of my sisters and my nieces and nephews. You guys are all great examples and you are all great dad's(and will be great dad's someday). I love having each one of you in our family!

Book Review

Great summer read! I finished this one last Thursday and I really enjoyed it. It was easy to get into and hard to put down. It was one that I would've liked to read on the houseboat in Lake Powell or at Bear Lake. It's set mainly on a little island off of New York. It's a story of relationships. Two sisters, Alice and Riley, who spend every summer on Fire Island with thier best friend Paul. They grow up and the story becomes entwined with love, guilt, self-punishment, passions, secrets, tragedy and loyalty. There is alot to say about a book that makes you think about the relationships in your own lives and helps you understand them a bit better. The loyalty and love between Alice and Riley is so strong that it's impossible to be completely honest with eachother. Neither one wants to wrong the other. The bonds of sisterhood are more improtant than any other, even if it is irrational, you do what you have to do to protect that.

Three Stars.

numbers 5 and 18...done!

#5 get shaved ice....DONE
Jason, Owen, Brayden and I walked down to Summerfest and got our first shaved ice of the summer. Brayden put a little of every flavor in his and Jas chose black cherry for me, Owen and himself to share. The computer didn't get all my pictures downloaded, but we all ate shaved ice and enjoyed every bite.

#18 run through the sprinklers...DONE
It wasn't exactly running through the sprinklers, but it was Owen's first experience with a sprinker so I thought it should count. He walked into the neighbors yard and I didn't think he would keep walking, but sure enough, he loved it. He knelt right down and splashed the water on the sidewalk and would stand up and get the shivers(it wasn't cold, but the sun was going down). It was cute. He got pretty wet and would have stayed there a lot longer than I let him i'm sure.

These two list items will definitley be repeats several times this summer.
